When it comes to the career of MMA star Jon Jones, UFC president Dana White considers him as one of the biggest disappointments in history.
Jones (22-1) is arguably the greatest fighter of all time but his failed drug tests and issues have held a dark cloud over his career.
White expressed his disappointment on what he feels is a failed opportunity for Jones’ career to meet it’s full potential.
“Ever, in all of sports,” White said to The TSN MMA Show. “The guy is so talented and gifted, God knows what he’d be doing right now if he hadn’t ever gotten in trouble.
“He could possibly be the heavyweight champion and have the defense record that couldn’t be broken. The list goes on and on of what could have been with Jon Jones.”
Jones, 30, tested positive for metabolites of oral Turinabol, an anabolic steroid, which wiped out his knockout win over Daniel Cormier at UFC 214. the failed test was Jones’ second failed drug test of his career.
Jones said that positive test was the result of an unmarked sexual enhancement pill and aces potential sanctions from both the California State Athletic Commission and the United States Anti-Doping Agency.
“Whatever happens, happens,” White said about Jones’ proceedings. “Believe me, I’m not mentally or emotionally invested in that anymore.”
