On Monday, Tarverdyan told Ariel Helwani that Cyborg would be Rousey’s ideal opponent in a comeback effort. He also believes the contest is one that is winnable for Rousey.
Rousey last stepped into the octagon last December at UFC 207 where she was knocked out by current Women’s Bantamweight Champion Amanda Nunes. During the contest, it appeared Rousey was still feeling the affects of her loss to Holly Holm at UFC 193, a bout that Holm won by head kick knockout in the 2nd round.
Cyborg recently captured the Women’s Featherweight Title by defeating Tonya Evinger by TKO in 3 rounds at UFC 214. Many consider Cyborg to be the most dominant female fighter of all-time, and while a return for Rousey against Cyborg doesn’t seem wise, it’s a fight that makes sense from a business standpoint.
For now, the speculation can continue as the MMA world waits to hear of a return date from Ronda herself, if ever.
