On Sunday the WWE Universe was treated to a mini Shield reunion, when Dean Ambrose and Seth Rollins teamed up to capture the WWE RAW Tag Team Championships from Sheamus and Cesaro.
And while the reunion has been welcomed and well-received by fans, there has been talk that if Roman Reigns, the 3rd member of the original faction, would be joining back up with his former faction for a full fledged Shield reunion.
“I don’t know. Roman works hard, every single day, busting his butt, having great matches, being a very entertaining character on television, and he seems to be doing just fine for himself” Rollins said in an interview with RauteMusik (h/t IWNerd).
“I don’t think that associating me and Ambrose with him is gonna- the man has main evented three WrestleManias in a row, you know what I mean? What help does he need from us?”
Reigns chimed in with his own thoughts.
“The main thing for me right now is that I’ve been in the Universal Title picture,” Reigns said on ESPN’s SportsCenter.
“You can ask Seth or Dean if they were able to be in that same situation. That’s what you go for. You want to have that top title and that’s definitely it.
“I’m super proud of those guys. They exemplified what makes the Shield so special [at SummerSlam].
The teamwork and just that brotherhood of going out there and getting it done. Not for yourself but for the man next to you. It really showed why when we came in, why we were so special.”
And what about a potential Shield reunion down the road?
“Hopefully. In the near future, maybe” Reigns remarked.
“Not only to prolong my career, maybe, because it does take it out of you running into those meatballs for 30 minutes at a time” Reigns said referring to Samoa Joe, Braun Strowman and Brock Lesnar.
“But there’s just some kind of magic when the three of us get together and we’re just moving on all cylinders.
It always seems to be a great time for the crowd.”
