NXT Takeover: Brooklyn III Review

Here are reviews for each match at NXT Takeover: Brooklyn III hosted at The Barclays Center in Brooklyn, NY.

Andrade Almas vs. Johnny Gargano
Winner: Andrade Almas

Great kickoff match between these two. Both have great chemistry in the ring by having close pinfalls and great reversals.

The end result made sense as Zelina Vega distracted Gargano which helped Almas get his bearings and finish off Gargano for the win.

Gargano is loved by the crowd and will be able to bounce back from this while Almas was due for a much needed win.

Sanity vs. Authors of Pain (c) for the NXT Tag Team Championship
Winner: NEW NXT Tag Team Champions Sanity

This match started off great when the two teams were all out brawling before the bell rang. That brawling carried on after as these two teams beat the heck out of each other.

At the last second, Eric Young decided that he was going to take Killian Dain’s spot in the match and have him help on out outside.

This did pay off too for Sanity. A huge spot happened where Dain flung his body at one of the AOP members through a table while he was hanging on to Nikki Cross after he caught her from the top rope.

This was a very good tag team match and this set in place what could be a great rivalry between Sanity and the Authors of Pain.

Aleister Black vs. Hideo Itami
Winner: Aleister Black

These two worked very well as well for their match.

This match was more striking based since these two were known for their kicks and knees while the Gargano-Almas match was more move based.

The result made sense as Black is making his case to in the NXT Main Event scene as he remains undefeated in NXT.

Ember Moon vs. Asuka (c) for the NXT Women’s Championship
Winner: STILL NXT Women’s Champion Asuka

We all knew that going into this match that Ember Moon was going to be the one to push Asuka to her limits and possibly dethrone her. Moon came very close as she had lots of close pinfalls but couldn’t put Asuka away.

Asuka was able to do enough damage to Moon’s surgically repaired shoulder that when she locked in the Asuka lock late in the match in the middle of the ring, that Moon had no choice but to tap out, which means that Asuka’s streak is still in tact.

These two put on a great match and when the match ended, Moon got a standing ovation from the crowd for her effort, which was well deserved. Great job by these two.

Drew McIntyre vs. Bobby Roode (c) for the NXT Championship
Winner: NEW NXT Champion Drew McIntyre

To be honest, I wasn’t as excited for this match as I was for other matches on the card. Now, with that being said, these two still put on a great match but the focus was more on what happened after the match.

Adam Cole debuted after the match and attacked McIntyre. This is a great sight to see because Adam Cole was one of the most talked about free agents when he left Ring of Honor and there were rumors going around that he was possibly going to WWE.

This rumors became true as Cole not only is in WWE, but he also has Kyle O’ Reilly and Bobby Fish by his side. Great way to have him debut with two others and form a new faction to see in NXT.

Also, shoutout to McIntyre turning it around for his career too as he went from a jobber in One Man Band with current WWE Champion Jinder Mahal, to NXT Champion.

In conclusion, NXT Takeover: Brooklyn III was a very entertaining show from start to finish and it got me excited for Summerslam too. The future also looks very bright for NXT as they presented a few new champions, determining that there maybe somebody new to defeat Asuka’s streak, as well as presented new superstars.
