The Ultimate Fighting Championship is “going back to cali” as UFC 227 emanates from the Staples Center in Los Angeles, California on August 4th, 2018.

Slated to headline the event is a much anticipated rematch between current Bantamweight Champion T.J. Dillashaw and Cody “No Love” Garbrandt.

The rematch between these two is something Garbrandt has wanted since he was knocked out by Dillashaw at UFC 217. Dillashaw on the other hand has been trying to secure a fight with Demetrious Johnson for the past couple of months. Johnson currently ranks as the best pound for pound fighter on earth and reigns as the undisputed Flyweight Champion of the UFC.

After a few weeks, Dillashaw decided to stop pursuing the Johnson fight after negotiations could not even get off the ground and Johnson showed little to no interest in the superfight.

As far as i’m told, ufc said they wanted it.

they keep telling me Demetrious Johnson was too scared to accept the fight. He might say differently, i don’t really know. when it comes down to it, i am not going to continue to push hard for something that is not going to happen. i can’t wait around forever to get paid

                                      T.J. Dillashaw

As far as the rematch with Garbrandt is concerned, Dillashaw doesn’t feel like his former training partner is deserving of a rematch after being dispatched of so easily in the first contest.

A win for Dillashaw at UFC 227 should close the chapter with Garbrandt and the rest of Team Alpha Male. However a win by Garbrandt would set up one of the most anticipated trilogy fights in the promotions history.

The UFC 227 card is currently under construction. It no surprise that the UFC puts together their biggest cards for some of the best cities in the world, so UFC 227 should be an incredible night of fights.
