As we wind down the lead up to the much-anticipated clash between Floyd Mayweather and Conor McGregor why not throw a log of controversy on the fire?
That’s what Mayweather did in an interview with FightHype.com where he cast doubt that McGregor could even make weight for the fight.
“I don’t think he’s gonna make the weight,” Mayweather said.
The weight limit is 154 pounds, but Mayweather believes McGregor currently weighs 164 pounds.
“Even if he does make the weight, that’s even better, but if he doesn’t make the weight, we’re still gonna fight. But it’s gonna be a heavy fine. Gimme that money.”
Mayweather doubts that McGregor can cut that much weight by weigh-ins and if Mayweather’s estimation of McGregor’s current weight is accurate, then it would be hard to imagine the feat being possible.
“Like I said before, a true champion is disciplined,” Mayweather remarked.
“And very responsible. But we’ll see.”
